Alberta Elk Hunting
There is a large population of elk in the Peace River region of Alberta, Canada. Here you get the rare opportunity to hunt elk in the rut with a rifle or bow. The hunts are done mainly in the big woods areas on the farmland fringe using calling and spot and stalk tactics. You will have an excellent chance to get a mature, heavy 5 or 6 point bull scoring 250 to just over 300. Bowhunts over waterholes and licks can also be very successful.

Our elk bowhunts are done as a 7 day combo hunt with Canada moose, September 7 to 14 during the bowhunting only season. We own the only 4 outfitter elk bow tags in 2 huge zones with very little local bowhunting pressure. Elk are generally not difficult to locate as they are usually very vocal, It's not uncommon to hear multiple bugling bulls on a daily basis. The elk are not call shy and often the bigger herd bulls will come charging to a bugle, giving the hunter a close bow shot.

Our rifle elk hunts take place from September 17 to the 30th as a 7 day elk only hunt. These dates cover the entire Alberta elk rut period with peak rut about September 17th. We own the only 2 outfitter rifle elk tags in our zone. It is very exciting to be hunting bugling bulls with a rifle knowing you may get the chance to take a big herd bull that is practically impossible to take at other times of the year. Most of the rifle elk shots are close range, less than 100yds.

Quite a bit of walking is required on both the rifle and bowhunts but it is not physically demanding. The Peace River area has huge amounts of public and private elk hunting land and we know how to get you good shots on either the rifle hunts or the bowhunts.
