Hunts Available
Trophy Red Stags are our specialty.
Once you arrive at our exclusive property you'll see why. The vast hunting area unfolds as you drive in to our beautiful wilderness and see red deer in their natural habitat.
Our game management plan of the past nine years has resulted in such an abundance of red deer that you will see several trophy stags on any hunting day. Year by year, with the ageing of our herd, more of the higher scoring monsters are developing.
You can go for Gold or a great Silver trophy - the choice is yours.
Bow hunters are welcome.
This will be a red stag hunt you won't forget!
Hunting Season: March through mid-August
Rut: Late March through April.

The Terrain
We established Kanuka Wilderness in 1999 after an extensive search for a well located, game-rich, rugged wilderness. We have developed the property to cater for American and European hunters in particular.
The exciting landscape of 4000 acres has range elevations from 500ft to 2000ft. We offer hunting on mountainous terrain, bush-clad slopes and wide grassy meadows.
We hunt by the spot and stalk method and all areas can be accessed by quad bike if necessary.
The annual hunting season extends for the duration of hard antler, mid February through mid August. There is a high percentage of mature stags amongst the game.
The stags pictured above are representative of what you will hunt.
Kanuka Wilderness has been audited by the New Zealand Association of Game Estates and has met the Industry Agreed Standards of outfitting. This rigid audit process gives assurances of a fair chase hunt and high standards of trophy quality, guide skills, game management, animal welfare practices, taxidermy preparation, accommodation, food and integrity.
